Pianist Michael Knapp to Release New Single, “Silhouette of a Soul,” on Oct. 30
New instrumental track reflects artist’s often-silent struggle with chronic fatigue syndrome and depression, with half of proceeds through 2018 to go to the Solve ME/CFS Initiative
LINN CREEK, Mo. — Pianist Michael Knapp will release a new single titled “Silhouette of a Soul” on Tuesday, October 30. Knapp will also debut and celebrate the public release from 6 to 8 p.m the same day at the Hearth Room at Old Kinderhook at 678 Old Kinderhook Drive in Camdenton, Missouri, where he is currently the house pianist. A deeply personal expression of Knapp’s battle with chronic fatigue syndrome and depression, the haunting “Silhouette of a Soul” will be available for download at the artist’s website upon release.
Half of all proceeds from sales of the new single through the end of 2018 will be donated to the nonprofit Solve ME/CFS Initiative (SMI). For more than three decades one of the world’s leaders in the fight against myalgic encephalomyelitis, commonly known as “chronic fatigue syndrome,” SMI supports research into the causes of the condition and potential treatments. As a popular performing Pianist at Lake of the Ozarks and one of the estimated million-plus Americans who suffer from ME/CFS, Knapp finds that listening to, writing, and playing music help him manage the depression that so often accompanies the illness.
“I’m happy to report that ‘Silhouette of a Soul’ will become available for download at my website on October 30,” Knapp said. “We hope to welcome many to the Release Party that Tuesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Hearth Room at Old Kinderhook in Camdenton. I conceived ‘Silhouette of a Soul’ as an expression of my fight against ME/CFS and depression, and I hope the music inspires and encourages others while raising awareness about these conditions. I’m proud to dedicate half of all proceeds from sales of the single this year to the Solve ME/CFS Initiative, a group that has been unwavering in its important work for many years.”
Born into a family of professional musicians, Knapp became an accomplished multi-instrumentalist at an early age. By the time he turned 12, he was performing on stage with family members. Later on, he performed at high-profile venues with Grand Ole Opry legends, such as Leroy Van Dyke, Stonewall Jackson, and Billy Walker. Since then, he has gone on to become a successful recording artist and highly sought-after pianist for hire. The release of his instrumental album debut, “Out of Darkness,” in 2016 marked the beginning of a new stage in Knapp’s artistic development. The soon-to-be-released instrumental single “Silhouette of a Soul” sees that journey continuing to a profound new place.
